2026 CFL Conference: “AI’s Impact on the Creative World”

September 29, 2026 | 8:30am – 5:45pm | Madison, WI

This inaugural CFL conference brings together thought leaders from across the country to collaboratively unlock the current and future impacts of AI on creative media. With over with over 25 speakers, facilitated working sessions, and active collaboration spaces – this is a unique space for bold ideas, high-impact strategies and action-oriented insights in a rapidly evolving world.

Who should attend?

The Creative Futures Lab conference will assemble a community of experts eager to understand the impacts of artificial intelligence and envision a future in which creativity can thrive. We aim to build a network that can support continued collaboration beyond the conference itself. This powerful collective will include:

  • Creators
  • Corporate decision-makers responsible for strategic leadership
  • Technologists and technology developers
  • Industry influencers
  • Community and government leaders
  • anyone else interested in how we can build stronger creative futures in our response to AI

Program

The conference will offer a full-day experience in which we build new knowledge about AI through keynotes, breakout sessions, Q&As, and shared discussion. Sessions will be organized around three key areas of shared investigation.

Practices

What changes have we already seen in the day-to-day practices of creative workers and to what future challenges might those current trends lead?  How do account for the specifics in different industry sectors?

People

How have work forces, local communities, and media audiences responded to the potential of AI creativity?  What challenges and opportunities do those responses pose?

Platforms

What kinds of platforms will most effectively deliver on the creative potential of AI technologies?  How can our approach to the regulation of AI in relation to intellectual property, policy, and future technological development support the future of AI creativity?

Because our goal is to build a sustainable network of shared inquiry, the conference will also offer significant opportunities for networking, included an end-of-conference reception.
